Material Introduction: PA6 BASF B3EG6 is a high‑performance glass‑fiber‑reinforced PA6 engineering plastic. It features high strength, high rigidity, good heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance and stable dimensional property. Being hygroscopic, strict drying is required before processing.

Main Applications

Electronic & electrical: Electrical insulating parts, insulators, connectors, coil bobbins, circuit‑breaker housings and other components requiring high rigidity and heat resistance.

Automotive industry: Engine peripheral components such as covers, heat‑resistant structural parts, bearings, gears and others.

Industrial parts: Bearing cages, transmission components, wear‑resistant bushings, mechanical housings, various rollers, pulleys, pump impellers, fan blades, high‑pressure sealing rings, oil‑resistant gaskets, oil‑resistant containers.

Injection Molding Parameters

Processing Item Recommended Range / Condition Notes & Explanations
Drying Treatment Hot‑air drying above 80℃ for 16 h; if exposed to air>8 h, vacuum‑dry at 105℃ for ≥8 h. Critical operation. Keep moisture ≤0.2% to avoid hydrolysis, bubbles, silver streaks and mechanical‑property loss. Use immediately after drying or seal properly for heat preservation.
Melt Temperature 250‑280℃ for glass‑fiber reinforced grades. Avoid temperature>300℃ and long‑time residence to prevent material degradation.
Mold Temperature 80‑90℃ for structural and glass‑fiber‑reinforced parts; high mold temperature is also recommended for thin‑wall / long‑flow‑path parts. Mold temperature greatly affects crystallinity and mechanical performance. Higher mold temperature improves crystallinity, stiffness and strength yet may reduce toughness.
Injection Pressure 750‑1250 bar. Adjust according to product and mold design; higher pressure may be needed for GF‑reinforced material.
Injection Speed High speed (slightly reduced for reinforced grades). Fast filling helps cavity filling; excessive speed may cause uneven glass‑fiber orientation and poor venting.
Runner & Gate Gate bore ≥0.5*t (t = wall thickness of molded part). For hot‑runner system, gate dimension shall be smaller than conventional runner. Minimum diameter for submarine gate ≥0.75 mm. PA6 solidifies fast; gate location and dimension are critical.
Screw Speed Avoid excessive shear force to prevent glass‑fiber damage and material overheating.
Back Pressure Proper back‑pressure helps melt homogenization and venting.
Molding Shrinkage Flow direction: ~0.3%; cross direction: higher value. Obvious anisotropy; special attention required during mold design.
Shutdown Notice Purge barrel with PE / PP of good thermal stability after production or shutdown to prevent carbonized nylon residue. Turn off heating system for long‑term shutdown.
